Yan Zhang is an award-winning painter based in the Greater Toronto Area, specializing in blending traditional Chinese painting with modern techniques. Over the years, she has refined her approach to Chinese painting within a contemporary context, drawing from her expertise in traditional figure painting. By incorporating watercolor, digital art, and elements of surrealism, she creates meticulous yet imaginative works, pushing the boundaries of Chinese painting.
Yan's art delves into themes of "anxiety and struggle," reflecting the complexities of human emotions and our surroundings. Her unique vision has earned her recognition in numerous exhibitions and awards. Notably, her painting "Ups and Downs" is part of the permanent collection at the Chinese Cultural Center of Greater Toronto, while "Life in Swirl" was exhibited at the Senate Binsfeld Office Building in Michigan from 2021 to 2022. In 2023, Yan received the Third Prize at the Third Annual Juried Show of Visual Arts at the Art Gallery of Mississauga.
Yan holds a BFA (1997) and MA (2002) in Chinese Painting from Hubei Institute of Fine Arts, and she earned her MFA from Wayne State University, USA, in 2022.

张燕画室于2014年在安省温莎市创立，十年来一直致力于提供高质量的艺术教育，为每位学生提供专业、细致的指导。2024年，画室正式迁至OAKVILLE，继续为艺术爱好者们提供丰富的课程和创作机会。画室由张燕老师亲自执教，张老师拥有中、美、加三国的美术教育背景，教学经验丰富，熟知不同国家的美术教育体系。她结合十余年少儿及青少年美术教学的积累，形成了系统的教学体系，既注重基本功培养，又鼓励创意表达，为每位学生的艺术成长提供个性化的支持。

张燕老师参加了各种专业展览，作品荣获得多个奖项。2004，作品《惊蛰》 获第十届全国美展湖北省银奖。2016年，工笔人物作品《浮沉》被大多伦多中国文化中心永久收藏。水彩作品《漩涡中的生活》被选中于 2021 年 10 月至 2022 年 9 月在密歇根州参议院宾斯菲尔德办公楼展出一年并被个人收藏。2022入选密歇根新锐研究生艺术家展。2023在第三届密西沙加美术馆视觉艺术评选展，获三等奖。
